End point: Vic Falls in Zambia

Tour Description
The adventure tour is a breathtaking experience taking in every facet of this unique part of Africa. You will view some of the world's most spectacular natural and wildlife national parks, encounter a variety of African cultures and experience some of the last great wilderness areas. From the colourful Cape to the "smoke that thunders", this trip is a photographic paradise.

The vehicles we use are specifically chosen to be suitable for the route. Some of the areas we travel comprise very thick sand, others are clay surfaces, and still others can comprise a hard surface overlaying a pool of treacherous mud. All of these surfaces can change rapidly under varying conditions. In addition to close-up encounters with wildlife, our adventures also provide a diverse an in-dept encounter with many of the folk who contribute to the land we travel in, to really appreciate the beauty of Africa in all its facets.
This is designed as an adventure trip, and the unexpected can be expected. Be prepared.

A deposit of 50% would be required in advance to secure the various bookings en route. We would suggest this be done on confirmation of your booking.

Payments made in foreign currency will be subject to the effective rate of exchange prevailing at the time of transfer.

Detailed Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Citrusdal

We head into the hinterland of South Africa today, visiting two wine farms in the Citrusdal area to taste some of the fine wines on offer from the region, and camping at a Hot Spring resort a few hours outside of Cape Town. CAMPING

Day 2: Orange River

After a relaxing early morning swim we continue northward to a lush campsite on the banks of the Orange River. Take a short canoe trip down the Orange River. CAMPING

Day 3: Fish River Canyon

After some relaxing canoeing or swimming in the Orange River, we continue to our next stop – the Fish River Canyon. We spend one night here and view the sunset while having a drink on the canyon's rim.

Day 4 and 5: Sossusvlei

Heading northwards through the Namib Desert we arrive at the dramatic red sand dunes of Sossusvlei. We rise early to watch the sunrise from Dune 45, soaking up the tranquil atmosphere. The rest of the morning we explore Dead Vlei and the massive dunes. CAMPING

Day 6 and 7: Swakopmund

Next morning we continue on to the old German town of Swakopmund where there are more adrenaline pumping activities on offer. Spend the afternoon and the following day enjoying the activities that Swakopmund has to offer. Explore this colonial town, with its Germanic architecture.

BUNGALOW ACCOMMODATION

Day 8: Brandberg, Namibia’s highest mountain

We carry on up the coast to visit the Cape Cross seal colony, before driving inland to the Brandberg, Namibia’s highest mountain. Here we bush camp for the night. The views are spectacular, and we also walk into the mountain reserve to visit the famous “white lady” bushman painting.

Day 9: Rock Engravings

Today our destination is a campsite near the Twyfelfontein Rock engravings and Burnt Mountain, which we will also visit. An optional visit to a local petrified forest is available.

Day 10: Himba tribal village

Today we make our way north to visit a Himba tribal village.

Day 11: Cheetahas

We visit a local cheetah conservation project, where we have the opportunity to interact with these special mammals.

Day 12 – 14: Etosha National Park

Heading northwards to Etosha National Park, we spend the next 3 days game driving in the park. In the evenings you can sit at the floodlit water holes and watch the "nightlife".

Day 15: Caprivi & Okavango River

Driving eastwards towards the Caprivi region, we spend the night in a beautiful campsite on the banks of the Okavango River. CAMPING

Day 16 - 17: Etsha

We then head south to the town of Etsha where we begin our Delta experience. This is the panhandle of the Okavango region. Transfer with 4x4s and motorboats.

Day 18: Maun

The following day we head for Maun, spending the night just outside town. Relax for the afternoon or get a different perspective of this vast inland waterway from a small aircraft. (Flight optional)

Day 19: Nata Bird Sanctuary

Today we travel eastwards to the town of Nata, spending the night at the Nata Bird Sanctuary.

Day 20 to 21: Northward to the mighty Zambezi

We travel northward to the mighty Zambezi, and spend two nights camped on the banks of the Chobe River. We take a morning game drive into the Chobe National Park and then spend the afternoon on the river with a sunset game cruise.

Day 22 to 24: Crossing the Zambezi

We arrive at the Victoria Falls in Zambia. This adventure capital allows you the opportunity over a few days to choose any number of adrenaline activities on offer, including a sunset cruise on the Zambezi and a chance to visit one of the seven natural wonders of the world: Victoria Falls.

Day 25: Departure Day

After a leisurely breakfast or maybe some early morning activities, we transfer to the airport to catch our onward flights home.

Tour costing – Some comments and details

The tour prices indicated below include the following:

  • All accommodation, meals, teas, coffees and soft drinks
  • All activities specifically indicated in the itinerary (unless specified “optional” or “own cost”)
  • The provision of suitable 4X4 vehicles for the duration of the trip, with appropriately licensed and experienced driver/guide
  • Local specialist guides, as required
  • Insurance and Emergency evacuation cover (we also insist that guests carry their own comprehensive Travel Insurances)
  • Entrance to all National Parks en route
  • Cross border charges as require.

The following items are not included in the price of this safari package:

  • Activities at Victoria Falls, e.g. - White water rafting , micro light flight, bungee, etc.
  • Flight over Delta
  • Activities in Swakopmund, e.g. Sand-boarding, Quad-biking
  • Visas charges for the various countries
  • Alcoholic beverages en route and most establishments
  • Items of a personal nature
  • Curios, etc
  • Activities and items not included in the detailed itinerary

Kindly note the following aspects:

  • Accommodation and activities are subjected to availability at the time of booking, and, in some cases, depending on other conditions prevailing on arrival.
  • It may not always be possible to use the proposed establishment, and in some cases an alternative must be found. Early bookings help prevent variations of this nature
  • Lunches provide en route are normally of the picnic variety, due to the unavailability or unsuitable of places to stop along the route
