About Izimbaleko African Safaris
 

Izimbaleko African Safaris is an exclusive safari tour operator that provides quality private safaris. Our focus is to provide a personal service to our travelling guests. We cater for groups of two to twelve clients, however we can accommodate larger groups if necessary.

Activities you can experience on our safaris:

Game viewing, bird watching, hiking trails, boat trips, discover unspoiled beaches, snorkelling, scuba diving, fishing, horse riding, elephant back riding, hot air balloon trips, gorge swing and abseiling.

Izimbaleko African Safaris can also design a tailor made safari to your hearts’ desire.

IN A NUTSHELL

Accommodation
Most campsites and ablution facilities have only showers with hot water, however the occasional cold shower and more rustic facilities can be expected. Flush toilets and facilities to hand wash your clothes are available. Izimbaleko African Safaris supplies all camping equipment. The dome tents we supply are 3X3X1.8 with built-in insect nets.
You will be accommodated in comfortable and clean chalets, tented bush camps and log cabins in certain areas on safari.

Food
We provide three meals a day, cereals with tees and coffees or the occasional fried breakfast in the morning, lunch is provided en route are often of the picnic variety, due to the unavailability or unsuitability of places to stop along the route. Dinner is cooked on open fires under the African stars which are very popular among our guests. We do cater for special dietary requirements.
All cutlery, crockery and utensils will be provided.
All other beverages will be for your own expense (e.g. alcohol).

Shopping
There are shops on safari that stock the basic products. Craft markets is limited in certain areas, you may find some small local vendors with carvings. Zululand is renowned for its grass weavings.

Difficulty
Anyone that loves the outdoor live will enjoy the trip. Everyone is asked to help out with the running of the camp. In other words help setting up camp, making fire, preparing meals and cleaning up, then the tour will run smoothly and everyone will have a good time on safari.
There is plenty of time to relax; after all it is your holiday.

Things you need on safari
Comfortable clothes a good pair of hiking boots and a pair of sandals. Clothes for warm days and cool evenings, a swimsuit, a hat, rain coat, sleeping bag, pillow case, sunglasses, sun block, moisturizing cream and insect repellent. And most imported is a camera, plenty of film and binoculars.
We suggest that you take US$ or South African Rand in small bills. There are banks available in most of the towns en route.
Most of our safaris falls in malaria areas. Please take the necessary precaution. Consult your general practitioner with regards to obtaining the correct medication.

Transport
The vehicles we use are specifically chosen to be suitable for difficult road conditions, under variable weather conditions. Some of the areas we traverse comprise very thick sand, others are clay surfaces, and still others can comprise a hard surface overlaying a pool of treacherous mud. All of these surfaces can change rapidly under varying weather conditions, In addition to close-up encounters with wildlife, our adventures also provide a diverse an in-depth encounter with many of the folk who contribute to the land we travel in, to really appreciate the beauty of Africa in all its facets.

Safety
Keep an eye on your belongings and don’t leave your valuables lying around. In the wild areas your guide will brief you on the necessary precautions. Take his advice and you will have a wonderful and safe trip.
